Laser Hair Removal

Q: Does laser hair removal hurt?

A: Many patients may feel a small zap of energy during the procedure, but pain can be controlled through icing the skin and using an appropriate energy setting.

Q: How many sessions will I need?

A: Laser hair removal results vary per individual depending on skin type, hair color, etc. Some may see results in as little as 3-4 treatments while for others it may take around 8-10 treatments.

Q: Is laser hair removal permanent?

A: When we take our laser and zap the hair follicle, it destroys it permanently. But hair grows in different cycles and what you may think is your hair returning is actually the hairs that were not present at the time of your procedure. Touch-ups may be needed to target new hair growth from the body revascularizing.

Chemical Peel/Microdermabrassion

Q: Do chemical peels or microdermabrassion really work?

A: Chemical peels or microdermabrassion (MDA) is a great non-invasive (and non-laser) way to better your skin. It takes a series of treatments to see optimal results and then maintenance treatments from there on.

Q: I'm afraid the chemical peel or microdermabrassion will hurt. Is there anything that can prevent hurting?

A: Microdermabrassion is a more genltle way to slough off dead skin cells that lay on the surface of the skin. There is generally no pain or discomfort associated with this quick procedure. Chemical peels may feel a little more uncomfortable. Patients generally feel a burning or itching sensation during the procedure. We provide the proper cooling devices to help ease the discomfort and will use a lighter concentration of the acid on naive or thin skin.

Injectables and Fillers

Q: I've never gotten botox or fillers before. Will I look different?

A: Our goal at Renew Laser Medical Center is to have you walking out feeling and looking refreshed. We reconstruct and restore features for some and for others its suitable as a preventative wrinkling agent. With either fillers or botox, you will look like an enhanced version of you.

Q: How long do these injections last?
A: Lifespan of injectables and fillers vary per individual, but generally Botox® and Dysport® last about 3-4 months and dermal fillers such as Restylane® can last anywhere from 6-12 months. Sculptra® is another type of dermal filler that can last up to 25 months with optimal results appearing after about 4 weeks post injection.
